Creating a Digital Scrapbook Layout Using a Quick Page and Print Master

By Barbara Eastwick

This tutorial is available as a short video and as a written text with screen shots below.

Level:  Beginner, having installed and opened Print Master

Written Tutorial

Print Master is graphics software that will work perfectly fine for digital scrapbooking.  For this tutorial I am using Print Master Gold version 17.  From the title screen choose "Create Brand-New Project".

Select "Scrapbook Page" as the type of project you want to create.

Choose the 12" x 12" page size and click "Finish".

To get started we will need to add our quick page to our canvas.  Click "Add" > "Graphic" > "From Disk".

Find your quick page on your hard drive, Click once to highlight, And then click "Open".

If you're quick page does not automatically stretched to the full size up the printing area (The area inside the dotted lines), stretch by highlighting the quick page and pulling on a corner until it fits inside the printing area.

To add your photo, follow the same steps as before: Click "Add" > "Graphic" > "From Disk", Click once on your photo, and select "Open".

With your photo highlighted, click "Layout" > "Layer" > "Send to Back".  Your photo should now be behind your quick page, you can move it to center it, and place it where you wish it to be.

To add journaling or title, click "Add or Edit Text" > "Add Text Box".  This will bring up the text box, just type your title or journaling here.

Your text is completely editable.  Just highlight the text within the text box, And choose the font, font size, and justification from the top Toolbar.

You may also edit the font color.  With the text highlighted within the text box, click on the paint bucket icon from the top toolbar.  This will bring up a color palette, just click on the color you wish the font to be.

From here you can add more text, more embellishments, whatever you wish to add to your layout.  When you feel it is complete you'll be ready to save.  There are many ways to save a layout,  you will wish to save it by how you want to use it later.  If you were to choose "File" > "Save Project" - It would save as a Print Master Gold file, and could only be edited within Print Master.  This is what you would wish to do if you knew you wanted to edit the layout later.  To save the layout for online viewing or to have printed, you will want to save it as a JPEG file.  For online viewing you will wish to save it at 100kb or less, for having printed, you'll wish to save it at the highest quality possible.

To save as a JPEG, click "File" > "Export As".

If you wish to have this layout printed you would save it at a 300 dots per inch resolution, To save for online viewing you would save it as a 75 dots per inch resolution.  Choose your resolution and click "Continue".

Find the folder you wish to save your layout in, type in the file name, ensure that it is saving as a JPEG, and click "Save".

This layout was saved at 300 dpi and now can be printed.  When saved at 75 dpi,  I could load it up to a gallery or to my ScrapWow album.
