QUESTION: I need help on how to get my pictures to work on the quickpages. I have followed the instructions on 'Optimizing Photos for the Internet", but when I add the photo on to my quickpage, it is teeny tiny and when I increase the size by pulling on a corner square, my photo is just a pixalated mess. I have tried this several times with several photos and still have this problem every time. My photos look fine before I move them.
ANSWER: Quick solution: Open your quick page. Open your photo BEFORE it's been optimized. Chances are the photo is large if it's right out of your camera. Next, place the photo into your quick page. Then, if you want to optimize your quick page/photo for the web, this is the time. Both will be optimized and ready for quicker uploads.
More details, FYI: When you open a quick page, for the most part, it is sized at print quality and 12x12 inches (3600 pixels x 3600). If you optimize a photo and don't optimize the quick page you'll end up with what you're describing, a small photo on a large page.
The reason you are having a 'pixelated mess' after you optimized the photo and attempt to drag the corner to make it larger, is because you are extending the picture beyond the size you just made it. Again, if you start with the largest picture possible, then make the page, you'll be able to optimize the photo and the quick page together after it's done.
The 'optimizing photos for the internet' tutorial is designed for photos that you intend on putting onto our templates straightaway. If you intend on posting a scrapbook page or 'quick page' online, then the entire page should be treated as one 'photo'/image and optimized after you have your photos in place. A better place to start, would be the Quick Page tutorial. Though the one we have online is for Photo Shop, many programs treat 'layers' similarly. You can find it here: Digital Quick Page Tutorial
