With the rise of the computer age and the ease of sharing photos online one has to be very careful in how they share their photos. This is a piece of advice you can't download, but rather, it is something that is very critical to understand because the safety and security of your precious family photos can be at risk if you're not careful.
What do you do with your digital layouts after you've created them? You can print them, you can email them to family, post them on a blog (that is crawled by the search engines), or post them in a public gallery or private photo sharing service.
Sharing photos via email is cumbersome and often unreliable due to spam filters. It's cumbersome because each individual photo has to be opened and saved before you can view them. Blogs on the other hand are crawled by every search engine and possible whacko. Public Gallery within the scrapbooking community can be difficult to navigate to which is an inconvenience for family and friends and still susceptible to unwanted visitors. But what about 'private' photo sharing services.
'Private' photo sharing services are not always private.
Did you know that many of the largest online photo sharing services actually have rights to use your photos for their own purposes as stated in their terms and conditions when you sign up? This includes advertising, promotions, and in some cases resale with no compensation to you. It's true.
If nothing else: Be sure to read the terms of service when you sign up to any photo sharing service.
Scrapwow does not play the shenanigans of some of the big photo sharing services. At ScrapWow you not only control your photos, but you can password protect your site, and individual scrapbooks within your site.
