I was asked what a 'mystery pattern' was, apart from the obvious mystery.
when you start most patterns you know by the picture at the top what the finished object will look like.
you also have the complete pattern in front of you so you can knit from beginning to end in one go if you like, or not - and take 4 weeks if you feel like it.
With the mystery patterns you know in advance who the designer is, so you can look up what kind of style his or her work is. If they mostly design lacey socks and you dont like lace, chances are you wont like this pattern.
But:
You wont get a picture of what it will look like, and you only get a part of the pattern, not the complete pattern. You can knit clue nr 1, lets say the cuff of your sock, and will then have to wait till clue nr 2 the week after, which will give you the leg bit of your sock. then the heel, (special turns of that part of the socks are complicated) then the foot and toes.
So only towards the last part of the sock have you got an idea of what your finished object will look like. Therefore: knitting it is a mystery till the end.
Makes Sense?
my white mystery sock now has a heel and looks like this:
it was nice to find I was the first one to decifer the latest clue. Im now trying to catch up with the second sock to the same point, then hopefully finish both next week.
My blue ''Solid Socks'' have finished :) it helps if you have to travel 6 hours on the train to drop evelyn off at heathrow.
Evelyn has traveled to holland on her own for the first time last weekend.
''unaccompanied minor''
I dropped her off at heathrow, she was taken through passport controll etc, by heathrow staff, taken to the aircraft and handed over to cabin crew.
SHe was then upgraded to business class and spoiled with chocolate and crisps etc.
On the amsterdam side she was escorted to arrivals by staff and handed over to her dad.
Sinterklaas arrived in Holland on the saturday, back home Myles and evelyn put their shoe up to Piet to come collect their wishlist.
On saturday the 5th of December we will go meet sinterklaas, at the dutch church in london, organised by the dutch association Neerlandia. We will be going with my friend Barbara and her little boy, as Oscar is officially too young to attend, unless he has older brothers or sisters. which he hasnt. so we will rent evelyn out for the afternoon haha.
Hi! Just dropping by to say hello! I am continuing on with my 365 project and am right up to date. I will have the book printed out at year's end! At least that is the plan! Stilll winter - ish here. But the snow is going fast.
